Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.

– Gianni Versace

Misunderstanding of fashion…

I had thought that fashion costed a lot of money. Every season, you need to buy new clothes, shoes, pants. Probably, everything become “old fashion" after you worn it only few time. But, in fact, the truly fashion is “less is more".

About buying clothes

If you want to buy the ideal clothes and don’t want waste to choose it, some rules might help you
1. Buying the clothes that you want to wear it immediately
2. Periodically update the basic units . (For example: jeans, hosiery, shirt … something won’t go out of fashion)
3. The quality units of lower body.

Check wardrobe …

How do you minimize your wardrobe? Check it.
1. Shoes are the most important units since wearing shoes is longer than wearing clothes.
2. If your clothes tend to be specific style, then you should conclude your style.
3. Knowing your shape to choose the right style for yourself.

Fashions fade, style is eternal.

– Yves Saint Laurent

If you find your style, it’s not important whether you keep up with trend or not. Know yourself, find yourself, and be yourself.

About picture …

In the previous articles, I can take some pictures since I bought those books. I never buy physical books after reaching out Minimalism. I borrow books from library or buy some e-books. So I can’t post picture like before. After I borrow books from library, my efficiency of reading have been improved because of due day. This is another benefits. You can try it.

We always have time enough, if we will but use it aright.

About title …

I love the title of this book. Track your past, order your present, plan your future. I actually record everything I need to do each day before reaching out bullet journal. But it didn’t work, thought I knew what I should do everyday, I just couldn’t finish it. Besides, I usually forgot things. After reading another book and combining those methods with methods of this book, I became more efficient and forgot less things. Since most of methods come from this book, I want to introduce this book.

Life is like a story. Important not in how long, but in how well.

Search …

One important reason why bullet journal is efficient is that you can easily find something you need to find. This means you need “index" and “page". I didn’t realize these elements are important until I started to use it. It really saves a lot of time. For example, when you record your ideas, you have to give it a name because you need to write it into index. You would have more attention on this name and enhance your memory. Besides, you can easily find it since you have index, name, and page.

Future …

Sometimes, we make a reservation in the future. For instance, making a reservation of restaurant next week, the homework needs to submit tomorrow, planing travel next month. Nowadays, every one has an easy access to all sorts of information. Recording will help us to concentrate since we can’t focus if there is something in our mind. The question is where I should write it down. “Future Plan" is the place to put such information. List every month and write down every task in the right month. In additional, you can add a “New Year’s Resolution". Every time you see it, remind yourself why you held on so long.

You had better live your best and act your best and think your best today; for today is the sure preparation for tomorrow and all the other tomorrows that follow.

– Harriet Martineau

Present …

“Log" is where you write down your today’s todo list. Further more, we have a lot of things need to do, but which task has highest priority? You should define “key" to prioritize your task. Add “key" in front of every task. For example, * this means this task is important; .this means a task. Define your own key. You will know better what you should do first when you write down the tasks.

Past …

Why do we have to understand the past? Knowing past, you will figure out where your time is. I check every month where my time goes. I realized that I have lowest efficiency between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. within a day. So I planed the easiest task during this hour. Realizing your time, you can do things more efficiently.

Everyone has their own style. The more efficiently using time, the more time we can use. Everyone makes their own choice of live, respect that. Hope you can find your own lifestyle and strive to life.

Not the kind of book you think …

When I looked around in the bookstore, I thought this was the book that talked about programming. I was wrong. Although this is not kind of book I thought, I was still appealed to the its content after I read few pages. I think that every skill taught in the book is suitable for every area, not only programmer. In the book, every section is independent, so you can pick any section you like without reading all of them.

We are all self-made, but only the successful will admit it.

– Earl Nightingale

About career …

People usually think that they are working for others, so they don’t have motivations to work. But think in different ways, you are creating you career. A lot of people don’t realize that. What do you want to do? Work nine to five, freelancer or entrepreneur? Think about it and you will be a little different. For example, if you want to be a freelancer, it means you need to find your customers. It also means if you have good performance, this company may be your first customer. Or you should create and manage your blog to demonstrate your value and expand source markets. If you want to be a nine to five, you should consider whether you would be fire because of passive attitude.

Marketing Changes People Through Stories, Connections, and Experience

– Seth Godin

Promote yourself …

How should you promote yourself? First of all, you should find “keyword" on you. What are you good at? Does something represent you? For example, if mention about coding, I will think of Uncle Bob. Find a “keyword" to promote yourself, therefor you can stand out from the crowd.

Focus …

If you want to improve your productivity, you have to focus on the current goal. This book mentions about how to improve the productivity, including the most famous- “Pomodoro Technique". My way is to focus on one thing, but each duration is less than an hour. It’s kind of the way that introduce in the book, but it’s not exactly the same. An other important concept is time-management. I am not going to talk about too many details since this concept is big enough to be an article. High productivity = high concentration + time-management.

There needs a long apprenticeship to understand the mystery of the world’s trade.

Things about learning …

There are methods and ways for learning efficiently. First of all, knowing which area you are interested in, search the field that you want to involve. Set your short-term target, then find every source and make a plan. The final step is starting to learn. All previous steps are just making the last step more easier. Sometimes, if you feel lonely when you learn, you can find some partners.

First wealth is health …

For person, the first wealth is health. Don’t spend it easily. Get up and exercise. Every break, I will exercise ten minutes. When I worked, I went to restroom and stretched my body in there. I know it sounds stupid. But good health is good for thinking and learning. So get up and exercise!

Spirit …

It’s important to have the correct mentality. Failures are important, too. How to embrace failures is the challenge that everyone faces. Spirit impacts health, so keep positive.

This book also talks about money management, but I don’t involve into this area yet. So I didn’t mention it in this article. I mentioned about learning in several articles, even show this word in the top of my home page. It’s because learning is really important for me. Learning profession, learning cherishing, learning smiling, learning facing every challenges.

A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.

-Elbert Hubbard

Why is everyone talking about “habit" …

Everyone says that developing a habit is important, why is that? It’s because it reduces consuming your willpower. When we need to do something we don’t want to do, we usually procrastinate to do it. This is the time you need your willpower to help you finish your work. Unfortunately, our willpower could be ran out. So we keep procrastinating. (XD) When you develop a habit, you can do something unconsciously which means you can conserve your willpower to do other things. You will become more efficient.

Start to develop a new habit …

Want to develop a new habit, you must find some bad habits. Considering what kind of habit you want to develop and how could you do. For example, you hope you can read book one hour every day. The question you should ask yourself is that how you squeeze you time to do it. Think about which activity that you spend most of time in your spare time and whether this activity means something to you? If you watch TV two hours every day, maybe you can try to reduce one hour and read book instead. If this decision wouldn’t be bad to you, I think you find your way. If this decision is bad to you, then find some other activities.

If you want to break the habit, just don’t do it …

Doing things is addicted if those things, no matter good or bad, are easy to achieve. The best way to drop a habit is don’t do it! Don’t give yourself any chance to do something you want to drop. You will feel free after a period. In the contrast, you have to do everyday if you want to develop a new habit. For instance, getting up early. Even though you were exhausted last night, you should get up on time.

People never succeed without paying any cost …

I think this is suitable for any circumstances. Buy something, you pay the price; get high score, you need to study harder; develop new habit, you have to control yourself. Although everyone know the meaning, I still want to share with you.

Spend a little more time trying to make something of yourself and a little less time trying to impress people.

-Richard Vernon, Breakfast Club

About habit …

In fact, you can’t keep any habit forever. It has to be broken and rebuilt. Life has a lot of surprises. The habit we developed for a long time will be broken someday. Maybe this habit is not suitable for you now; maybe you want to try something new. There are thousands of possibilities in your life. Nothing is immutable. It’s fine when your break a good habit. Just remember, keep learning.

Lessons from Madame Chic

Finding simple pleasures.

– Jennifer L. Scott

Why I read this book …

Usually, the first impression of a person gives me is not about his or her look. It’s about the disposition. (I don’t know whether “disposition" is right. I want to describe how to feel a person, like elegance.) Disposition is hard to tell, but I think sometime it can show the experience of a person. And I want to be elegance and confident. So when I first looked at the subtitle of this book, I was interested in it immediately.

Why I labeled it Minimalist …

Many concepts in the book are similar with minimalism, I will show in following topics. I think the most classic and popular part of this book is “liberate yourself with the ten-item wardrobe". I am still learning in this part. For me, clothes is the most difficult and reluctant lesson of minimalism.

Liberate yourself with the ten-item wardrobe …

It doesn’t mean that you can only have ten-item in your wardrobe literally. The author’s real meaning is to throw clothes which you no longer wear it out. In fact, if you only keep the “basic unit", like T-shirt, classic jean, clothes that match your style …etc., you may only need ten items each season. Besides, the author also teach you how to determine what kind of clothes you should throw it out.
Ask four questions to yourself
1. Do I still like it?
2. Does it match you now?
3. Do I wear it recently?
4. Does it fit my status?

Reject the new Materialism …

One of concepts in this book is like Minimalist which they all cherish what they own. Understand your style and you won’t keep following the trend. Not only clothes, but routine shopping, living style …etc. Madame Chic knows clearly what she owns and doesn’t need to buy other things to " the icing on the cake “. Understand why you shop, and when your next shopping, try to buy less one thing that you want but don’t need. Low down the frequency you shop, your shopping desires will be disappeared. Use these saved time to develop new interests. Maybe start to write the novel that you always want to try. Maybe go home to see your parent. Do something you like.

Cultivate your mind

Cultivate your mind and disposition.
1. Read books
2. Watch classic movies
3. Participate some activities you are interested in.
4. Travel

The reason to minimalist …

Moved back home after completing my undergraduate degree, my stuff was as twice as before. There were two comforters, two fans, even over double amount of my clothes than before. My room seemed crowded even though I cleaned out them several times. This clothes I wear in elementary school couldn’t discard since it had memory; this book might be used in the future couldn’t be trashed. These things happened again and again. I couldn’t clean up those things even though they were useless. I needed to find some way to get rid of that.

After throwing away, I know better about the meaning …

n the beginning, I am aspired to live like minimalist, but I didn’t act like that. Not until I cleaned out all textbooks, I suddenly loved this feeling. Not only my room became spacious, but also I felt more comfortable. I don’t know how to express my feeling, it is kind of freedom. This was the time I start my journey of being minimalist.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.

— Steve Jobs

The reason of hoarding things …

Most people show their personalities though their things. The person who has a lot of books seems to be erudite; the person who owns many cameras is thought to be a photographer. You can’t throw out useless things if you too care about others thought, just like me of one-year ago.

Now me …

  • only purchase my favorite things
  • figure out which things I need and which things I want
  • concern about quality not price

The most important thing from Minimalist

The most important things I learn from Minimalist are

  • Be thankful
    • Thank everything I have
    • Thank everyday I alive
  • Respect
    • Respect everyone’s lifestyle

So I decide to be a blogger.
